25 YEARS OF CD HISTORY
August 17 1982 quietly ushered in a revolution. Ring any bells? Was it the fall of the Berlin Wall? Nope. Was it the Sandinistas coming to power in Nicaragua? Wrong again. On that day – 26 years ago – Philips manufactured the very first CD and even though it may not have seemed like a revolution at the time, it did revolutionize the music and film industry.

You may be convinced that doo-wop originated from Afro-American roots but a lot of people don't know that one of the most successful doo-wop songs did not come from American soil at all. The song "Wimoweh" was written by South-African singer Solomon Linda as far back as 1939!.

An unforgettable voice of ‘60s soul fell silent Friday Oct. 17 when Levi Stubbs, singer for the legendary Motown group The Four Tops died at age 72. May God bless his family and comfort them. THIS STATION MAY BE SILENCED !
Recently, our Hosting Company Live 365, who provide for our streaming software and servers, have increased the cost to broadcast by means of new broadcasting packages. These packages are not only more expensive, they significantly limit the number of free slots for listeners to listen in at peak hours. The limit has dropped from a 100 to 20 free listener slots and may cause many of our listeners not being able to tune in at any particular time. Only VIP members have unlimited access. Off course all this is due to the alarmingly high new royalty rates for Internet radio the Copyright Royalty Board (CRB) has issued. The ruling increases record company royalties by 140% over 4 years and includes a $500 minimum fee per channel per year. This would mean many small broadcasters like us would be silenced. Our protests to this are still going on but in time it might be so that we have to call it quits too.
Live365, the home of my station; Doo-Wop Jukebox Gold, has increased the cap on the number of listeners that can listen to my station at any one time. Based upon what I know about my listenership patterns, that means many of you faithful listeners may not be able to listen at peak times. The good news is that Live365 has a Preferred Listener plan, which costs as little as $ 4.95 a month. Preferred members ALWAYS have access and can listen AD-FREE...
